The winners of the architectural competition for renovation were named in Moscow

The winners of the international architectural and urban planning competition for the development of the concepts of the five experimental sites under the renovation program in Moscow were announced. It is said in the press release of Moskomarhitektura.
The international consortium of Bofill Arquitectura, S.L. and Master's Plan won the competition for developing the concept of the site on Vernadsky Prospect. The best concept for a site in Golovinsky district was proposed by "Asadov architectural bureau", in Khoroshevo-Mnevniki - a union of studios Nikken Sekkei and UNK Project, in Kuzminki - Bureau SPEECH, in Tsaritsyn - "Sergey Skuratov Architects".
According to Sergey Kuznetsov, chief architect of Moscow, contestants had to work out conceptual proposals on site planning approach. Site planning projects will be submitted for public hearing by the end of 2018. After that, the winning projects will be finalized close to the original concept, Kuznetsov noted. The districts developed under the renovation program would not become typical dormitory districts - they would be a full-fledged urban environment with a street structure, developed social and commercial infrastructure, explained Kuznetsov.
Design of the individual buildings, in particular the architectural style of the facades of apartment houses will be defined by the designers at the stage of the development of the design documentation in accordance with the terms of reference for design, says the press release.

An architectural and urban planning competition for experimental sites of housing renovation in Moscow was launched on 25 April 2017. It was reported that according to the results of the competition for each site a concept of development will be determined, on the basis of which a territory planning project will be developed in the future. Renowned foreign architectural firms, including Zaha Hadid Architects, Eric van Egeraat, MLA, Nikken Sekkei, took part in the competition. In November 2017, the 20 finalists for the competition were announced.
The renovation program in Moscow included 5171 houses, where more than 1 million Muscovites live. It will take 15 years and about 3.5 billion rubles to demolish all dilapidated buildings. By the end of 2018 it is planned to build 2 million "squares" of new housing for the resettlers. Moscow authorities promise that this year 10 thousand Moscow residents will move into the new buildings.
