A neighborhood with a passenger pier will appear on the site of the former South Port

"Now we are preparing a territory planning project for the development of the territory of the former "South Port".

Residential quarters with a landscaped embankment on the River Moscow, social infrastructure, public and business center and a modern cargo port will be built in the industrial zone "South Port", said the head of the urban planning bureau Master'sPlan Yulia Zubarik.

"We are now preparing a territory planning project for the development of the territory of the former "South Port". It is planned to build about 1,2 million square meters of real estate, including housing, three kindergartens for 575 children, two schools for 1300 pupils, children-adult polyclinic for 320 visits per shift and an apartment complex", - said Yulia Zubarik.

"A business center with a pier for public water transport will be formed, while a cargo pier will be renovated with a modern port building," she added.
Zubarik noted that about 10 thousand people will live in a new quarters and that the construction of the business center will allow to create 6 thousand workplaces.

According to the developer's estimations, the realization of the project will take 5-7 years.

Earlier Sergey Kuznetsov, the chief architect of Moscow, declared that on territory of the former "South Port" there will be a large residential and public-business center, similar to Moscow-City CBD. "It will be a powerful center, actually CBD-2, and it will be comparable to the first one in terms of economic power, people attraction and the number of jobs being created," said Sergey Kuznetsov.
